The NMTF is the only national trade association for market and street traders, events retailers and mobile caterers in the UK.
We are a membership organisation with 25,000 members, providing unrivalled liability protection, political representation and business support to micro and small businesses all over the country.
Markets are great platforms to start a lean business. With low overheads, flexible working hours and a position in the heart of many communities – markets put businesses face to face with their potential customers and locate entrepreneurs at the coal face of retail.
Through initiatives such as Taster Membership, First Pitch and the National Youth Market, the NMTF works closely with market operators all over the UK to support entrepreneurs to set out their stalls and launch businesses on their local markets.
We are also a Referral Partner with Start Up Loans UK, a goverment-backed scheme that offers new members access to finance and mentoring to businesses with less than 12 months of trading experience.
Working with key partners such as The Source Retail Academy and Jobcentre Plus, the NMTF runs retail apprenticeship and work experience schemes, which encourage school-leavers and young jobseekers all over the UK to work for market traders.
We also takes an active role in developing skills of new and existing market traders. Traders who have completed business support programmes, NMTF First and NMTF 400, report more sales, increased turnover and continued growth.
But we don't stop there. The NMTF is a not-for-profit mutual trade association, run by its members for its members.Through a network of local branches and national officers, we offer expert advice and support on any aspect of markets and market trading.
Membership of the NMTF starts from £102 per year for a sole trader. Join us today.
